Zayn Malik Backs out of ‘On the Road Again Tour’

Amidst more rumors of his infidelity towards his fiancée, Zayn Malik of One Direction has announced that he will not be participating in several shows on One Direction’s On The Road Again 2015 Tour. Citing stress as the main reason, Malik’s announcement was tweeted out by One Direction’s manager, Simon Jones.

The tweet cites stress as the main reason for leaving the show and goes on to explain that “the band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.” In the meantime, Malik will be returning home to recover. Currently, it is unknown if Malik will rejoin the band for the On The Road Again Tour’s South African leg, which kicks off on March 28th with a show in Johannesburg.

Earlier this week, allegations surfaced that implied that Zayn Malik had cheated on his fiancée, Perrie Edwards of the UK girl group, Little Mix. The rumors surfaced when pictures came to light of the 22-year old musician holding hands with a woman who was named Lauren Richardson. Malik took to Twitter to discount the rumors, posting the statement “I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world. I’m sorry for what it looks like.” Richardson released a similar statement, claiming that she was just a fan taking an innocent picture with the band.

The On The Road Again Tour kicked off in Sydney, Australia on February 7th and is currently on its second leg in Asia. The tour is in support of the band’s most recent album Four, which hit shelves in 2014. The shows that Malik will be missing definitively will be the last three shows of this leg, two of which are taking place in Manila in the Philippines and one in Jakarta, Indonesia. One Direction is expected to hit North America for a series of shows between July 9th and September 12th before finishing up the tour with a series of European performances through October.

Currently, Malik’s fellow band members have yet to comment on his impeding absence from the On The Road Again Tour. Although nothing has been confirmed, fans are already beginning to speculate that this could be the end of One Direction. These speculations are rather premature, but this is the first serious evidence of a crack in the band’s façade. Hopefully Zayn Malik is able to recover and return to the rest of the band’s shows.
