Have you ever been caught off guard when you least expected it? Well, that’s what happened to one man who had set off to film a bunch of cows grazing in a field. The man soon found himself on a rescue mission when one mama cow asked him for help!
20. Mama Cow
Flo is a sweet mama cow that lives on a farm near Millbrook, Ontario. For most of her days, Flo can be spotted hanging out on the lush pasture, having her fill of grass and fresh water to drink.
19. Relaxed Living
All of the cows on the farm were living pretty good. With all of the fresh food and water to enjoy, they really didn’t have much to complain about. It was also the perfect conditions for Flo to give birth.
18. Pregnant
Flo had recently gotten pregnant and was almost due. Everyone was excited for her to give birth and it looked like things were going to go smoothly. That is, until the unthinkable happened.
17. Giving Birth
Everything with the birthing process had gone as expected for Flo, until something completely shocking happened. Flo had given birth to her newborn calf near the electrical fence that separated the farm.
16. Electrical Fence
Flo completely panicked when she realized that her newborn calf had managed to slide under the electrical fence and onto the other side. The baby was trapped and away from her and Flo instantly began to panic…
15. Dave
This all happened to occur as a man named Dave had walked over to the fence. Dave had decided to stop by the area to cool off and saw the cows were dipping into the water on the farm. He decided it would be interesting to film them playing in the water.
14. Walking Over
So Dave decided to walk over to where the cows were and started filming them hanging out. Since the electrical fence was in the way, Dave didn’t feel like he was intruding on their personal space. However, that’s when he noticed something odd.
13. Loud Noises
As Dave reached the electrical fence he began to notice that one cow in particular was mooing very loud. In fact, she seemed to be mooing straight at Dave. He was immediately taken aback by her reaction to him.
12. Persistent
At first Dave ignored it and had just assumed that maybe the cow was being territorial about its space. However, Flo continued to moo and moo and moo. That’s when Dave realized that she obviously wanted attention.
11. Specific Area
So Dave walked over to where Flo was mooing up a storm and noticed that she kept scraping against a specific part of the area. That’s when Dave noticed her baby calf lying in the hot sun. He was shocked!
10. Just Born
Not only was the baby calf on the other side of the fence, but the calf was still attached to the mother through the umbilical cord. Dave knew that he had to help the mama and her baby out immediately. After all, who knows how long the baby had been melting out in the sun?
9. Dry
As Dave approached the baby he noticed that it was very dry. It was obvious that the baby calf was dehydrated and in need of milk from its mother. At first, Dave worried that touching the baby would make the mama cow angry.
8. Still Trying
Even though he knew it was a risk, Dave decided to try to help out. He quickly grabbed a stick and used it to lift up the electrical fence. The mama cow began to lift up her front hoof and kick up dirt as she saw what was happening.
7. Wires
“He is no brave farmer and wires won’t stop an angry momma,” said a video caption. As Dave attempted to move the fence he got a few shocks from it and so did the baby. However, he continued to prevail.
6. Getting Through
Despite getting shocked by the fence as he worked to get the baby over, Dave kept on going. Eventually, he was able to get the baby calf over to the side of the mama. What he saw next was a beautiful reunion.
5. Reunited
Once the mama and the baby were reunited they began to sniff each other out. The mama then led the baby over to the pasture so that they both could get out of the hot sun and away from the electrical fence that started the problem.
4. Alerting The Farmer
Once Dave saw that the mama and the baby were doing okay together, he quickly ran off to find the farmer. As soon as Dave found him, he alerted the farmer to everything that had happened. The farmer then went off to check on the mama and baby.
3. Checking Up
The farmer went over to the mama and baby calf and saw that both of them were doing fine. Then he tagged the calf. Everyone was in good health!
2. Curious Sniff
Later on in the day, Dave once again approached the mama and her calf. The two of them seemed to instantly recognize him. Flo even walked over and gave Dave a few sniffs just like she did with her baby.
1. Hero
Both Flo and Dave managed to be heroes in this situation. Flo’s persistent motherly nature helped to alert Dave who then worked hard to get her baby over to her. Talk about a truly heartwarming tale!
