We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Wendy’s, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the fast food franchise that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: It Sells 300 Million Frostys Every Year. We mentioned in part one of this list that the Frosty was one of the original five items on Wendy’s’ menu, and it’s been popular ever since. Approximately 300 million Frostys are sold every single year.

Number Seven: The “Chocolate” Frosty Isn’t So Chocolate. In reality, it’s a mix of both vanilla and chocolate. Thomas was concerned that an entirely chocolate Frosty would distract from the flavor of the hamburger.

Number Six: It Didn’t Invent the Square Hamburger. Though Wendy’s might be responsible for popularizing the square burger, it didn’t invent them. Thomas got the idea for a square burger from another chain called Kewpee’s. Another popular chain that served square burgers before Wendy’s was White Castle.

Number Five: It Had the First Fast Food Salad Bar. Wendy’s was the very first fast food chain to offer a salad bar, which also offered a “Mexican Fiesta” and “Pasta Pasta” section. Because of the maintenance required to keep it fresh, the salad bar ended up being impractical and was removed.

Number Four: They Fired Clara Peller. Clara Peller was the woman who made the tagline “Where’s the beef?” famous in a Wendy’s commercial. However, after Peller spoofed the commercial in another commercial for pasta sauce, Wendy’s let her go.

Number Three: Dave Thomas Was in More Than 800 of Their Commercials. Thomas had no background in acting, and his first commercials with the chain have been criticized for being stiff. However, he soon found a large fanbase and ended up starring in over 800 of their commercials.

Number Two: In Japan, You Can Buy a Foie Gras Burger From Wendy’s. It’s not an uncommon practice for fast food chains to offer different items in different places, and in Japan, you can actually buy a foie gras burger at Wendy’s!

Number One: Its Logo Is Trying to Tell You Something. If you look closely at the logo, you might see the word “MOM.” On Wendy’s (the girl) collar, the blue stripes, button, and jagged black top come together to make it look like her collar says “MOM.” We hope you enjoyed our list!
