Weeknd Gives Masterful Performance at Coachella

The Weeknd closed out the main stage at Coachella on Saturday night, and some critics are calling it one of the best performances at the music festival. The R&B singer was just named as the Saturday headliner last month, and some concert goers were a little skeptical that The Weeknd would not be able to handle the pressure. The confident singer proved his naysayers wrong, and his composure onstage seemed to be just as smooth as his music.

The R&B singer performed a cover of Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love,” and Drake joined him onstage for a performance of “Crew Love.” The Weeknd also performed “Love Me Harder,” “High For This,” and “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).” The R&B singer must have felt how legendary his performance was, and he told the crowd that this was the greatest night of his life. “Nothing’s better than right now,” The Weeknd stated. The singer’s fame button may have moved up another notch after putting on quite a show at the biggest music festival in America.

The Weeknd just earned his first Number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).” The hit single has been on the R&B singles chart for 14 weeks, and it finally made it to the top of the charts. “Earned It” is also sitting at the Number 2 position on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, and it continues to increase its weekly streaming clicks. The song has been downloaded more than 100,000 times so far. The Weeknd moved up to Number 9 on the Artist 100, earning the R&B singer his first Top 10 debut on the Artist 100. His success on the chart is due to the fact that “Earned It” is Number 1 on the singles chart, and the song’s streaming data has also helped his first Top 10 debut.

The Weeknd has dropped five studio albums including House of Balloons, Thursday, Echoes of Silence, Trilogy, and Kiss Land. Kiss Landreached the Number 2 position on the Billboard 200, and it went to Number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and UK R&B Albums chart. Six songs were released from the project including “Kiss Land,” “Belong to the World,” “Love in the Sky,” “Live For” (featuring Drake), “Pretty,” and “Wanderlust.”
