The 64-year-old rocker will be opening the first of his Rockin’ & Roastin’ Café franchise in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. Its interior will be designed around a “rock royalty” theme and filled with references to Aerosmith hits, like a “Walk This Way” sign by the bathroom and a baked good on the menu called “Jamie’s Got a Bun.”
“They know a lot about pig production out there in Hollywood.” – Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, sarcastically dismissing Cher’s accusations of animal cruelty by Iowa Farmers. The singer had slammed their practices via Twitter after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed legislation outlawing gestation crates in the state, calling him a “despicable bully” and asking why Iowa farmers must torture pregnant pigs.
“I am a prisoner and so is my creativity.” – Lil Wayne, explaining to disappointed fans why his long-delayed album, Tha Carter V, may never drop at all. The rapper announced that his label, Cash Money Records, is refusing to release it, and said that he is “truly and deeply sorry” to his fans and family. “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,” he tweeted.
“Tell the other guys they stink.” – Michael Clifford of 5 Seconds of Summer, teasing about his bandmates after he lost his passport and was unable to join them for their Jingle Bell Ball performance on Capital FM. In the apology video to his fans, Clifford stood disappointedly with his suitcase and explained that he was not able to fly from the U.S. to the U.K. for the show.
“We agreed that because Courtney was a subject in the film, it would be best if she wasn’t given editorial control.” – Director Brett Morgen, explaining why Courtney Love will not have any creative involvement in the forthcoming Kurt Cobain documentary from HBO and Universal Pictures, despite the fact that she first approached him with the idea in 2007. Because this is the first authorized documentary about Cobain, many are surprised that his widow will not have a say in the content.
“The music is timeless and so is the butt.” – E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, discussing Bruce Springsteen’s best features. Having had the same view of Springsteen for decades, Weinberg joked that he even chose the album cover for Born in the U.S.A. because it showed Springsteen from the side he was most familiar with. “I voted for that one because that was the view I always saw. I didn’t recognize him from the front. I’ve never seen him from the front. I’ve only seen from the back.”
