Usher Reportedly Proposed to Longtime Girlfriend

Sources have reported that Usher is engaged to Grace Miguel. There are multiple reports stating Usher’s fiancée wanted to keep the engagement a secret, although she was wearing what appears to be a huge engagement ring at an event a few days ago. During a 2014 interview with Billboard magazine, Usher spoke about his relationship with Grace Miguel, “She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career. She’s someone who’s been able to support and understand all of who I am. Not just as a dancer or as a performer or as a singer, but as a humanitarian and a business man and a person.”

Usher and Miguel began dating in 2009 after the singer split from his wife Tameka Foster. Foster and Usher were married from 2007 to 2009. The singer has two children with his ex-wife, Naviyd Ely and Usher Raymond V. In the past, Usher rarely spoke about his relationship with Tameka Foster. A few years ago, Usher sat down with Oprah for a very compelling interview, which included speaking on his failed marriage. Usher and Foster had a long list of issues following their divorce. The former couple dealt with a bitter custody battle that subsequently turned Usher and Foster into enemies. A month before the Oprah interview, Usher was awarded primary physical custody of the former couple’s children. In 2012, Foster’s son, from a previous relationship, was critically injured after he was struck by a jet ski. After being taken off life-support, Kile Glover passed away. He was only 11 years old. Contrary to reports, Usher told Oprah that he did attend his stepson’s funeral. The R&B singer was also asked about his alleged infidelity during his marriage to Foster. He did admit to not being faithful “all the way.” Usher also confessed to being with another woman sexually when the couple was separated.

The singer’s other high-profile relationship was in 2001 when Usher dated TLC member, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. The couple broke up in 2003, and rumors suggested that his Confessions album was based on their relationship, although Thomas has denied the album is about her and Usher’s relationship. Confessions is Usher’s most successful album to date as it sold over ten million copies in the US. The album was released just one year after Usher and Rozonda called it quits. A couple of years ago, Thomas referred to Usher as her “first real love.”
