Trina Joins the Penalty Entertainment Family

Rap superstar Katrina Laverne Taylor, better known by her stage name Trina, has announced that she will be signing a new distribution contract with Penalty Entertainment for American releases. Trina will continue to release music internationally through The Executive Club Worldwide. Jullian Boothe, who has worked with Trina at The Executive Club Worldwide for the entirety of her career, has expressed her excitement for the rapper as well as hopes for a successful upcoming release schedule. Neil Levine, one of Penalty Entertainment’s co-founders, shared a similar sentiment, stating “I am honored to welcome Trina…to the growing Penalty Family. The Trina brand is one of the most prevalent brands within the hip hop industry, and Penalty is pleased to continue the trajectory of such an A-list artist.”

Trina herself commented on the news, letting fans know that she is ready to bring things to the next level musically. “This is the beginning of a new direction and stage within my career,” adding, “I am beyond excited to share this phase with the world as I continue to evolve.”

Trina is hard at work on her currently untitled sixth studio album that is set for release mid-2015. Penanty revealed that the album is set to be executive produced by the Grammy Award-winning Rico Love. Love is renowned for his work with Beyoncé, Usher, Trey Songz, T.I., and Future. The duo have already teamed up on the album’s single “Real One,” which was released at the start of the month. In September of 2014 Trina released the single “F*** Love,” which is speculated to be included on the new album.

This will be Trina’s first album since 2010’s Amazing, which peaked at Number 13 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Since then, Trina has released a series of mixtapes, some of which have been promoted with the release of singles. 2015 will be a busy year for the rapper, who is also working on starring in a docudrama series.

Trina is one of the precursor’s to modern femcee’s such as Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea. The rapper, who sometimes refers to herself as Miami’s “Diamond Princess” exploded onto the scene in 1998 with a feature on Trick Daddy’s “NANN.” From there, the rapper released her debut album Da Baddest Bitch in 2000. In 2014, Trina gave fans a taste of what to expect on upcoming releases with the release of a mixtape titled Back 2 Business. All of this is great news for the world of hip-hop as an incredibly talented star is preparing to make her long awaited return to the scene.
