Trapt Says Paramore’s Grammy Win Is a Conspiracy

Paramore‘s “Ain’t It Fun” won Best Rock Song at the Grammy Awards last night, and Beck‘s Morning Phase won Best Rock Album. Nu metal band Trapt wasn’t too happy about Paramore and Beck’s Grammy wins, and so the band posted their frustrations on social media. “The fact that Paramore won an award for Best Rock Song and Beck won for Best Rock Album shows you that there is a conspiracy going around to destroy the essence of what rock music is all about,” the band posted on Facebook. The message continued, “The establishment doesn’t want anything too threatening or in your face to rile you up, they just want you to nod mindlessly to adult pop punk or indie electronica or whatever the hell won a Grammy for best rock song and album.” Trapt is best-known for their 2003 song “Headstrong,” which peaked at Number 16 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The song was featured on the band’s 2002 self-titled album. To date, Trapt has released six albums, but they have never been nominated for a Grammy Award.

It seems Beck can’t catch a break after his album won two major Grammy Awards. First, Kanye West criticized his win, and now his fellow rock musicians are also questioning his Grammy wins as well. Beck spoke to US Weekly about the West controversy. “I was just so excited he was coming up [referring to West pretending to come on the stage to interrupt his acceptance speech]. He deserves to be onstage as much as anybody. How many records has he put out in the last five years, right,” Beck told US Weekly. The rock singer said he was not offended by West’s comments at E!‘s After Party, in which West said Beck should give his Grammy Award to Beyoncé. “I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyoncé! You can’t please everybody, man. I still love Kanye and think he is a genius. I aspire to do what he does,” Beck said to US Weekly

This morning, TMZ asked Kanye West about the comments he made about Beck last night. “Beck knows that Beyoncé should have won. I love Beck! But he didn’t have the album of the year,” West told TMZ. West’s comments about Beck this morning weren’t as harsh as the night before, but the rapper did not back down from his position that Beyoncé should have won the Album of the Year award.
