Top Five Reasons We Are Looking Forward to EDC

The Electric Daisy Carnival is this weekend in New York City. The event from Insomniac returns for its fifth year with a stellar lineup of DJ’s performing on eight different stages. Here, a look at five reasons to get excited about EDC. First of all, the festival will take place on eight uniquely designed stages. One in particular, Kinetic Field promises to be the largest stage in North America. In addition, more than 15,000 pounds of confetti will rain down on fans over the three-day festival. There will be photo booths all over the place for revelers to document their revelry (very important), and VIP helicopter rides will be available to those willing to shell out $5,000 for a round trip. There will also be a ball pit, over 30 hours of live music, and the option to get married at the festival for a low price of $35. There will also be a lot of radical artwork to check out. Art has always been a mainstay of the festival. This year, find new larger-than-life and interactive art installations including fire-breathing metal creatures, three-dimensional wooden superstructures, glow-in-the-dark environments and LED-infused flora and fauna. Find art throughout the festival grounds. Oh, yeah, there’s music. And amusement park rides, including a gigantic ferris wheel. In addition, aerialists, stilt walkers, dancers and more wearing over-the-top outfits will be wandering about the grounds all night long. Costumes are a big part of the festival, so come in your best tutus, sequined crop tops, neon everything, flower crowns and spirit hoods.
