Top 5 Songs for Lip Sync Battles

Whether it be on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, on the Internet, or on the recently developed prime time show aptly named Lip Sync Battle, you are sure to have watched a clip, a number, or a full-on battle of this phenomenal game. Created by the celebrity couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt with their friend and colleague, Stephen Merchant, this sync-off sensation has proven itself a true source of entertainment. Especially when done in the most over the top manner. So, without further ado, here are the top five songs to ensure a win should you ever find yourself faced in a Lip Syncing Battle.

Number Five: Bang Bang by Jessie J ft. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj. There three things that you want from a song to snag a definite win in this kind of battle: fast rapping, high notes, and a danceable tune. And this wonderful, colorful, flavorful collaboration by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and the Queen of Rap herself has all three. If you can sync “Kidding so good / This drippin’ on wood / Get a ride in the engine that could go / Batman Robin it / bang, bang, cocking it / Queen Nicki dominant, prominent”, then the round will be yours.

Number Four: No Diggity by Blackstreet ft. Dr. Dre, Queen Pen. This song has been featured in Pitch Perfect, so plenty of you probably know it. Well, the Anna Kendrick cover at least. But, if you are going to use it in a battle, then better stick to the original. It’s got that swag to it. It’s got that beat. It’s one of those songs that’ll make the singer perform the song. Even if that singer’s just lip syncing it. With lyrics like “The homies got RB, collab’ creations / Bump like acne, no doubt / I put it down, never slouch / As long as my credit can vouch / A dog couldn’t catch me ass out”, you will bag it up.

Number Three: All I Do is Win by DJ Khaled ft. Ludacris, Rick Ross, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg. If all you want to do is win, then this is the song for you. Need a guide of how to perform it? Watch Emma Stone’s epic winning performance of this hit, and then wisely do as demonstrated. There’s not much more to say. It’s all in the lyric. Embrace the lyric. Be the lyric. Win the lip sync battle. Lyrics include “All I do is win win win no matter what / Got money on my mind I can never get enough / And every time I step up in the buildin’ / Everybody hands go up.”

Number Two: And I am Telling You I’m Not Going by Jennifer Hudson. This one is for those with a flair for the dramatics. And, yes, it has t specifically be Jennifer Hudson’s version because hers is the most dramatic of all. Feel that deep and desperate intake of breath, and you will feel her desperation for affection. Then, you will feel victory as your audience weep from your moving non-performance. Make sure to point at various directions when she goes into “And you / And you / And you / You’re gonna love me.” There has to be crying. There has to be the shaking of your hands from your overwhelming emotions. That’s what makes this song so perfect. It gives you all the material. All you have to do is have the courage to deliver, and your audience will surely love you.

Number One: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. You’ve heard it. You’ve sung it. You know the lyrics to it. “I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy / Because I’m easy come, easy go / A little high, little low / Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me, to me.” Freddie Mercury gives you the perfect ammo with just the right amount of fast and slow. Embody the queen within (yes, even for the kings) and you will see yourself the reigning champion in your pretend-singing victory.
