Celebrities are always in the limelight being scrutinized, but many famous people put a lot of work into hiding dark pasts to protect themselves. These five celebrities probably put some work into hiding their pasts, but we’ve uncovered them with these five stories of celebrities with surprising and even disturbingly dark histories.
Number Five: Will Smith
In 1989, Will Smith had just won a grammy and was flying high. His ego was flying high, too, because he tried to get away with something that he would never be able to get away with today. Smith had his bodyguard assault record producer William Hendricks, and his bodyguard did it. Smith was arrested but claimed that he had no connection to the fight.
Number Four: Elvis Presley
Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley has been accused of many things, but this one takes the cake. Presley loved women, but he loved girls more. Specifically, he loved really young girls. While he never admitted to having sex with these 13 and 14-year-old girls, he did have “pajama parties” with them, and they would often spend the night at his house. He met Priscilla, his future wife when he was 24 and she was just 14.
Number Three: Mark Wahlberg
Marky Mark has a long past littered with violence and drugs. He admitted to freebasing cocaine at the age of 13 and when he was 14 he was sued for throwing rocks and yelling racial slurs at young children. In 1988, he also beat up two Vietnamese men, and in 1992 he beat up a security guard so badly he had to have his jaw wired shut.
Number Two: John Wayne
American hero and cowboy legend John Wayne was a legacy, but he was also a white supremacist. In an interview he did with Playboy, he made many racist comments and implied that the “blacks” are not responsible enough to be in leadership positions.
Number One: Ryan Giggs
Perhaps the worst person on this list is Ryan Giggs. Ironically, Giggs is beloved by just about everyone except his own family. The football coach and manager at Manchester United had an affair with his brother’s fiancee…for eight years. He even got her pregnant, and two days before she was to wed his brother, he met her in secret so she could get an abortion. His brother found out, and the story blew up, but Giggs didn’t apologize until four years after it happened.
