Top 10 Quick and Simple Life Hacks (Part 2)

We recently brought you part one of a list of the top 10 quick and simple life hacks. Now, we bring you part two, with five more incredible life hacks, from getting rid of pesky insects to removing wrinkles and more, that will make your day-to-day just a little easier.

Number Five: Getting Rid of Ants

If you are looking to get rid of just a few ants crawling around your kitchen and don’t have any ant traps, you might be able to use something else in your cabinets. A spray from a cleaner like Febreeze or Windex will kill the insects on contact. If you are trying to take down an ant hill, though, you will need something a bit tougher, with bait, that will kill the entire mob.

Number Four: Removing Wrinkles from Clothes

If your favorite shirt or pair of pants is wrinkled and you don’t have enough time to take out the iron, there is a way to get the same result in the dryer. Just put a few ice cubes in the dryer with your clothes and put it on your machine’s highest setting for five minutes. This will steam your clothes, making them wrinkle-free.

Number Three: Getting Rid of Fruit Flies

There isn’t too much more annoying than having tiny gnats flying all over the place in the summer and getting into your home. An easy way to get rid of them is to make a homemade fruit fly trap. First, you get a cup or bowl and fill it with over ripe fruit. Then, you cover it with plastic wrap, poke holes in it and set it where the fruit flies congregate. The fruit flies will be attracted to the fruit, will go in through the holes and won’t be able to get out. Once you see a filled-up trap, simply take it outside and pour a mixture of warm water and dish soap into the trap. The flies will drown since the soap will reduce the surface tension of the water.

Number Two: Unclogging a Toilet

One of the most recommended ways of clearing a clogged toilet is with hot water. If you leave it for a little while, the heat will break up the clog a bit and the extra water will cause the clog to get pushed through faster. Some people suggest using salt or baking soda, or dish detergent, as it will also dissolve a clog, but it may sometimes do more harm than good. One thing to never do is use boiling water, which can distort pipes.

Number One: One of the Most Interesting Life Hacks – Getting Out of Slow Traffic

If you are stuck in traffic, it may pay to find which lane the 18-wheeler trucks are driving in. Not that these trucks are that safe to drive near, but each one has a radio with other drivers constantly updating each other on which lanes are the clearest. While not foolproof, it is worth a shot.
