Some animals are cute and cuddly, and others are ugly but pretty much harmless. Some animals, however, are life-threatening to humans. Here, we present our list of the top 10 deadliest animals in the world. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Ten: Sharks. Sharks are able to use their retractable jaws and giant teeth as weapons, and some sharks are especially aggressive toward other animals, including humans. Sharks kill between 10 and 25 people every year, and they injure many more. However, sharks are not really that dangerous! You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than being attacked or killed by a shark.
Number Nine: Jellyfish. Jellyfish have long tentacles that can sometimes pack a serious punch. More than 100 people die at the hands of a jellyfish every single year. Just brushing against a tentacle accidentally can cause a serious injury or even a fatality.
Number Eight: Cape Buffalo. Cape Buffalo have incredibly strong horns and can weight up to one full ton. They kill more than 200 people every year and will not hesitate to charge humans when provoked. However, because cape buffalo are a prize for hunters, they continue to be hunted and dangerously approached on a regular basis.
Number Seven: Lions. It’s no secret that lions are dangerous animals, and thanks to their sharp teeth, claws, and massively powerful muscles, they can kill humans with ease. Lions kill over 200 humans every year, although most of these kills have been due to humans accidentally invading a lion’s territory. Lions will also become defensive if they feel like their cubs’ lives are at risk.
Number Six: Hippos. You might think of hippos as a cute and strange-looking creature that just kind of hangs out in the water. Well, that’s where you’d be wrong. Hippos are responsible for more than 300 human deaths every year, probably because the humans had no idea how dangerous hippos really are.
