Tim Tebow is one of the most recognizable faces and names in the sports world right now. The 28-year-old quarterback may have received a lot of media coverage over the course of his career, but there are still some things about him that many people don’t know. Number Fifteen: He Is Beating Out His Competition. According to Pro Football Reference, Tebow has engineered more game-winning drives than Nick Foles or Sam Bradford. Tebow has engineered seven while Bradford and Foles have engineered five each.
Number Fourteen: He Was the First Sophomore to Win the Heisman. Tebow won the Heisman Trophy after the 2007 season, and he was the first “true” sophomore to be awarded with such an honor.
Number Thirteen: He Almost Won the Trophy Two Years in a Row. Tebow nearly won the Heisman Trophy again in 2008, but instead, it went to Sam Bradford. However, Tebow reportedly received more first-place votes than Bradford, with 309 to Bradford’s 300.
Number Twelve: He Was Born in the Philippines. It’s true! Tebow was born in the Philippines, where both of his parents were Baptist missionaries. Tebow has since gone back there to visit the ministry that his parents built.
Number Eleven: Florida Runs in the Family. Both of Tebow’s parents went to the University of Florida, and Tebow went there as well. Tebow’s parents even met and got married there!
Number Ten: He Was Home Schooled in High School. And his home-schooling is what is responsible for “The Tebow Rule.” The Tebow Rule states that kids who are homeschooled can also play sports for their local high school if they so desire.
Number Nine: He Scored a Touchdown With a Broken Leg. Tebow was a junior in high school when he was playing for Ponta Vedra-Nease. During the fourth quarter of the game, Tebow was able to score a touchdown on a 28-yard run with a broken leg. In fact, he played the entire quarter with a broken leg.
