You were surprised in our part one article with the first zombie-loving facts you didn’t know about The Walking Dead, and now we have returned with part two! Read on to discover the top eight things you didn’t know about The Walking Dead that all you zombie-heads out there have been waiting for so eagerly!
Number Eight: Kill Count. All you fellow Dead-heads out there remember season three fondly for its constant action and bloody violence. During this season, a key concept of the show was that humans had become even more deadly to our zombie-fighting gangs than the actual walkers. Of 17 humans deaths in this season, only three were the victims of zombies. The other 14 were killed by other survivors.
Number Seven: Above the Accents. If you really know this television series, you are probably aware that the casting crew liked to incorporate some British stars. Despite their southern accents, the actors who play Rick, Maggie, and The Governor are all British.
Number Six: The Diction. If you have not yet noticed, you may find it odd that not a single character ever says the word “zombie”. This is done to create the image of a world that no one could have expected, that leaves the population unprepared for such developments. Instead, they use lingo like “walkers”, “biters”, or “herds”.
Number Five: The Props. The Walking Dead is staffed by some of the best and most talented stage crews, including the props department. They work fast, too! The barn featured in season two from Hershel’s farm was constructed in an astonishing 10 days, only to be burned down for the filming. They only had one shot to get it right!
Number Four: Playing the Part. It really is much harder than it appears to be a walker for the show. While filming, the acting-dead are encouraged to avoid blinking- lest they have to edit it out. Zombies just aren’t supposed to blink, apparently. They are also instructed to remain absolutely silent- the sound effects are added in later.
Number Three: Behind the Beard. If you have really been paying attention to the series, and are really good at spotting inconsistencies, you may have noticed that Shane had suddenly grown a beard in the middle of season 3. Jon Bernthal, the actor who played Shane, was contracted to keep his facial hair; he was also currently filming The Wolf of Wall Street.
Number Two: Hidden Hints. During season one, the protagonists of our beloved zombie series are shown in a CDC facility. While there, they met a scientist named Edwin Jenner. The naming of the characters was not simply a coincidence from the writers, he was named after the scientist (Edward Jenner) who created the smallpox vaccine.
Number One: Within the Scriptures. At the start of season 2, Rick’s crew can be seen battling a total of three walkers after coming across them inside the Southern Baptist Church. However, they might have known they were there is they had a bible on them. The sign for the church reads “Revelation 16:13”, which is a biblical verse that reads “Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.”
