Lorde will grace the cover of Vogue Australia for their July issue. Inside the magazine, Lorde discussed how she went from an aspiring teenage singer to a Grammy-winning artist. “It’s crazy going from living in a country that feels kind of small…and I’d never traveled, really. Then coming to Los Angeles or New York for the first time, and meeting all these people outside your group of friends from high school,” she told Vogue. Lorde continued,”The world has expanded for me in this incredible way. It’s cool, and I’m very lucky that I get to surround myself with creative people who are clever and good at what they do.”
The singer also discussed her first studio album Pure Heroine, and the influence it has had on pop culture. “You realize how seriously people are taking what you’re doing and how they’re savoring every word and living inside the songs,” Lorde told Vogue. The singer may have never envisioned her style would have such an influence on people, but her dark and wild look has impacted the fashion world. “As I get older and a little bit more comfortable in myself, I’m like ‘Yeah I will wear that really pretty, feminine outfit, and I’ll feel strong in that as well,” she stated. Lorde added,”I [still] love a perfect pair of pants, the perfect collard shirt, and I wear sneakers- heavy sneakers.” The full interview will be available when Lorde’s Vogue Australia feature hits newsstands next month.
Lorde is currently working on her new project, which will be her second studio album. PureHeroine was released two years ago, and it was led by the hit single “Royals.” The song sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks, and it sold over seven million digital copies in the US. “Royals” also went to Number 1 in Canada, United Kingdom, Belgium, Europe, and Italy. Pure Heroin was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at last year’s Grammy Awards, and “Royals” won two Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. The other songs released from the album included “Tennis Court,” “Team,” “No Better,” and “Glory and Gore.”
