Here, we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about The Rolling Stones. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: Charlie Watts Got Married to Shirley Ann Shepherd. On October 14, 1964, Watts secretly wed a plasterer’s daughter, Shirley Ann Shepherd. The reason Watts tried to keep it secret is because he thought the group wanted him to remain a bachelor.

Number Fourteen: They Were Turned Down By 14 Hotels in 1966. While on their American tour in June and July of 1966, 14 hotels turned the Stones down in New York City. However, it was not only because of their reputations as messy partiers; it was also because the hotels were concerned about the fans raiding them.

Number Thirteen: Keith Richards Failed His Driving Test Three Times. After Richards failed his driving test three times, he sent his minder on his behalf. The minder eventually passed for him.

Number Twelve: Jean Shrimpton Really Got Around. Before she settled down with Mick Jagger, Jean Shrimpton hooked up with Keith Richards and Brian Jones. Shrimpton, now 73, was an English model and actress.

Number Eleven: They Were Drug-Free…for a Time. December 4, 1965, marked the day that the Stones first tried LSD. Well, everyone except for Mick. They all attended an “acid test” which allowed them to take acid in a safe environment. After that, the rest is history.

Number Ten: At One Point, Brian Jones Drank Over a Liter of Whiskey Every Day. After Jones was first introduced to drugs, he quickly became addicted to many things. By 1966, while on tour, Jones was drinking one and a half liters of whiskey every single day. He was also popping pills, and he enjoyed hallucinogens.

Number Nine: Mick Jagger Doesn’t Mind Changing Diapers. Jagger has said, “I’ve always changed nappies, for other people’s children as well as my own…You do these things when it’s necessary – although I’m not about to become a full-time house husband like John Lennon did…”
