The Flash has become one of DC Comics‘ most popular characters and is highly regarded by many comic book fans. However, despite the fact that the character has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about the Flash. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Fifteen: He Has a Brother. A secret brother, at that! Cobalt Blue began as a brother to the Flash; however, the doctor who delivered him was drunk and told his mother that he was stillborn. It would be years before Cobalt discovered his own ancestry.
Number Fourteen: He Killed. It’s not uncommon for the villains in comic books to commit murder; however, what is uncommon is when comic book heroes do it. The Flash killed a villain who had come to kill his (Barry’s) wife-to-be on their wedding day.
Number Thirteen: His Death Gave Him Power. Barry died in a speed vortex that eventually disintegrated his body. However, his “death” wasn’t really a death at all. In fact, it was the event that finally enabled him to turn into a lightning bolt.
Number Twelve: His Mind Is Impenetrable. Even psychics can’t read the mind of the Flash. This is because the Flash’s mind moves just as quickly as his body, so psychics have no way of reading his thoughts as quickly as he is able to think them.
Number Eleven: Despite What Many People Think, He Defeated Quicksilver. Quicksilver is Marvel’s answer to the Flash, but the Flash totally beat him. Even though the Flash technically lost in the setting of the Marvel Universe, he is actually faster than Quicksilver.
Number Ten: The First Flash Wasn’t Barry Allen. It’s true! Though most people identify the character with Allen, the very first Flash was named Jay Garrick. Garrick was introduced in 1940 and was a member of the Justice Society of America.
Number Nine: He’s Responsible for Starting the Silver Age of Comics. The Silver Age of Comics is what happened when DC Comics relaunched several of their characters, including Batman, Superman, and the Green Lantern.
