The Flaming Lips announced the tracklist and revealed the list of special guests on their Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band tribute album, With a Little Help from My Fwends, due to be released on October 28th via Warner Bros. Working hard over the past year, the band recorded their own versions of each track on The Beatles’ 1967 classic in their own neo-psychedelic style, with a little help from friends My Morning Jacket, J. Mascis, Miley Cyrus, Moby, Dr. Dog, Phantogram, Tegan and Sara, Grace Potter, and Electric Würms (which is a side project of The Lips that recently released a debut album of six songs entitled Musik, Die Schwer Zu Twerk) among others. The band will celebrate the new album with a pair of performances at The Warfield in San Francisco on December 30 and New Year’s Eve.
With A Little Help From My Fwends is now available for preorder and fans who do will receive two instant gratification downloads including “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” featuring Miley Cyrus and Moby, as well as “Fixing A Hole” featuring Electric Würms. All the royalties artists receive from the LP will be donated to The Bella Foundation, a non-profit organization based in the band’s hometown of Oklahoma City that assists low-income, elderly, or terminally ill pet owners with the cost of veterinary care.
