Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ Reaches 5 Million in Sales

After just 36 weeks, Taylor Swift‘s multi-platinum project 1989 has now reached five million in US sales. The album is now the fastest project to reach that accomplishment in more than a decade. 1989 sold another 26,000 copies last week, bringing its total to a little more than five million (5.015 million). The last album to reach the five million mark in less than 40 weeks was Usher’s Confessions in 2004, which reached five million in sales after just 19 weeks. 1989 is Swift’s third album to reach five million in sales, her other projects include Taylor Swift (2006) and Fearless (2008). The pop singer’s latest effort features the hit singles “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” and “Bad Blood.”
