Taylor Swift Tops Artist 100 Chart, Again

Taylor Swift returned to the Number 1 spot on Billboard Artist 100 chart. The country singer’s 1989 was the best-selling album of 2014, and it has sold over four million copies. Her latest single, “Style,” was released last month, and it reached Number 3 on the Billboard Top 40. This is the country singer’s seventeenth week at Number 1 on the chart.

The Artist 100 is measured by combining Billboard’s most influential charts including the Hot 100 singles chart, Top Albums Sales, and Social 50 chart. Social 50 ranks artists according to their activity on social media. The artist’s popularity is determined by combining social media followers (friends/fans), along with page views and song plays. This week, Swift is Number 1 on the Social 50 chart for the thirteenth week.

The Artist 100 chart also takes the data from album sales, music streaming, and radio airplay. The rest of the top 10 on the Artist 100 includes Big Sean at Number 2, Ed Sheeran at Number 3, followed by Drake, Kid Rock, Maroon 5, Sam Smith, Imagine Dragons, Mark Ronson, and Ellie Goulding at the tenth spot. Big Sean leaped from Number 32 on the chart, all the way to the Number 2 position. His ranking on the chart is accredited to having the Number 1 album on the Billboard 200. Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise debuted at the top of the charts, becoming his first album to top the album charts.

Drake became the first rapper to top the Artist 100 a few weeks ago, and he is currently positioned at Number 4 on the chart. Drake’s entire If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album is on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. The rapper also made history by having fourteen songs on the Billboard Hot 100, which ties a record held by The Beatles in 1964. Drake’s Number 4 position on the Artist 100 can also be attributed to his music streams on Spotify. The seventeen tracks on If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late continue to gain millions of streams a day on Spotify, and it became the most streamed album in day with 6.8 million streams.
