Taylor Swift Amongst Billboard Music Nominees

The nominees have have been announced for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. All the nominations are based on album and digital sales, streaming, touring, social media interactions, and radio airplay. The awards show will be produced by Dick Clark Productions, and it will take place in Las Vegas (NV) on May 17th. The awards show will broadcast live on ABC at 8pm (Eastern standard time). Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen will co-host the Billboard Music Awards this year. The performers for the 2015 awards show will be announced at a later date. The 2014 awards show featured performances by Jennifer Lopez, Jason Derulo, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, and more.

The artists with the most Billboard Music Awards are Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson, who have both won fifteen awards. Taylor Swift leads all artists with 14 nominations this year, some of which include Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Social Artist, and Top Streaming Artist. Trailing right behind Swift is Sam Smith (Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, and Top Hot 100 Song), who racked up thirteen nominations. The other top nominees for the night include Iggy Azalea (twelve nominations) and Meghan Trainor (nine nominations). The only fan-voted category is the Billboard Chart Achievement Award, which include Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea, and Meghan Trainor. The full list of nominees can be viewed on Billboard’s website.

The Billboard Music (Album) nominations include: Top Billboard 200 Album (Maroon 5’s V, Pentatonix’s That’s Christmas to Me, Ed Sheeran’s X, Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour, and Taylor Swift’s 1989); Top R&B Album (Beyonce’s Beyonce, Chris Brown’s X, Michael Jackson’s Xscape, John Legend’sLove in the Future, and Pharrell Williams’ GIRL); and Top Country Album (Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt, Garth Brooks’ Man Against Machine, Luke Bryan’s Crash My Party, Brantley Gilbert’s Just As I Am, and Miranda Lambert’s Platinum).
