Suge Knight Fires Lawyer, Appears in Wheelchair

Suge Knight had to appear in court for charges stemming from a robbery case. Knight and comedian Micah “Katt” Williams have been accused of stealing a female photographer’s camera last year. If he is convicted, Knight will face thirty years in prison because of his prior assault with a deadly weapon conviction. Williams will face seven years in prison if he is found guilty. The judge requested Knight appear in court to confirm he had fired his attorney, David Kenner. Kenner, who represented Knight in his robbery case, filed paperwork citing irreconcilable conflicts.

Knight allegedly told authorities that he was paralyzed, and so he was forced to sit in a wheelchair during his appearance. Knight expressed that he didn’t need the wheelchair, and he requested to sit in a regular chair. The rap mogul seemed to have changed his mind about being paralyzed, after he was wheeled into the courtroom. “I walk perfectly fine,” he pleaded with the judge. Much to his dismay, the judge told Knight he had to remain in the wheelchair for precautionary reasons. The mogul’s next hearing for the robbery case is scheduled for May 27th.

Knight is also facing murder charges in a different case, for which his remains in custody on a $25 million dollar bail. Knight fired his attorneys in his murder trial as well, and he arrived in court with his new attorney, Matthew P. Fletcher last month. Knight is charged with murder, attempted premeditated murder, hit-and-run resulting in death, and hit-and-run resulting in injury. He has pled not guilty to all of the charges. Cle Sloan (Training Day and Brooklyn’s Finest) and Terry Carter were both struck by Knight’s truck while on the set of the NWA biopic, after being involved in an altercation with the rap mogul.

Carter died as a result of being run over by Knight’s truck, and Sloan has suffered several injuries; including head trauma and a mangled foot. Video surveillance footage showed Knight recklessly driving on the set, and deliberately striking the two victims with his vehicle. The video also shows Knight putting his truck in reverse, which resulted in running over Carter. Knight claims he was leaving the set in such a hurry because his life was in danger, and Knight also stated he didn’t intentionally hit the victims with his vehicle.
