Steven Tyler Releasing Solo Country Album

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is releasing a country solo project. Tyler made the album announcement during an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. The rocker made a surprise onstage appearance while Eric Paslay was performing an acoustic set, and told the crowd he was finally recording a country album.

While some may be shocked by the news, this is not Tyler’s first encounter with country music. Tyler has performed with a number of country music stars in the past including Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, and Brad Paisley. Underwood is featured on Aersosmith’s “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” from their band’s Music From Another Dimension! album. There haven’t been any further details regarding his solo debut, but there are reports that Tyler has signed with country label Big Machine Records.

Steven Tyler has been the frontman for the legendary Aerosmith since 1969. The band has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them the top-selling American band in music history. Since their first self-titled album release in 1973, Aerosmith has dropped fourteen studio projects. Some of projects include Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic, Rocks, Draw the Line, Night in the Ruts, Rock in a Hard a Place, Pump, Nine Lives, and Honkin’ On Bobo.

Besides being known for having one of the biggest voices in music, Tyler (along with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry) has written some of the band’s most successful hits. Tyler and Perry were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame two years ago. The band’s most recognizable songs include “Dream On,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Crazy,” “Walk This Way” (with Run DMC), “Sweet Emotion,” “I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing,” “Dude,” and “Love in an Elevator.”

Aerosmith will launch their Blue Army Tour this summer. On June 24th, the band will begin their tour in Evansville (IN) at The Ford Center. Their other North America dates include stops in Durant (OK) on June 27; Hidalgo (TX) on June 30; Lake Tahoe (NV) on July 2; Santa Barbara (CA) on July 6; Salinas (CA) on July 9; Kelowna (Canada) on July 12; Victoria (Canada) on July 15; Fort McMurray on July 19; Cheyenne (WY) on July 22; Minot (ND) on July 25; Ridgefield (WA) on July 27; Las Vegas (NV) on July 31; Grand Rapids (MI) on August 4; and Canton (OH) on August 7th.
