Spice Girls Reunited Onstage Over the Weekend

The Spice Girls reunited onstage over the weekend for a 40th birthday celebration for David Beckham. The soccer legend’s wife, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), rounded up all of her bandmates for this special birthday celebration. Even though Mel B (Scary Spice) was noticeably absent, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), all took part in the Spice Girls reunion. Actress Eva Longoria playfully stepped in as a replacement for Mel B. The reunion show could be an indication that a Spice Girls album is possible.

After a few of the pop group’s unreleased songs were released in February, Bunton said that the Spice Girls had a ton of unreleased music. Bunton stated that she still keeps in touch with her bandmates, and the pop singer didn’t close the door on a possible Spice Girls reunion. “It’s just when the timing is right because we all have our own careers now, and we have families. It’s just about getting five schedules together and that’s all it is,” Bunton told the Daily Star. Well, four out of five Spice Girls managed to show up for David Beckham’s birthday celebration, that’s a promising start towards an upcoming album.

The Spice Girls released three studio albums including Spice, Spiceworld, and Forever. The pop group’s first studio album entitled Spice sold more than thirty million copies worldwide. The project featured the singles “Wannabe,” “Say You’ll Be There,” “2 Become 1,” and “Mama/ Who Do You Think You Are.” The pop smash “Wannabe” was dropped in 1996, and it became one of the biggest pop songs in music history. The song reached the top of the charts in several countries, including a four-week Number 1 run on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their follow-up album, Spiceworld, sold over twenty million copies worldwide. The project was led by the singes “Spice Up Your Life,” “Too Much,” “Stop,” and “Viva Forever.” The song “Spice Up Your Life” was not a huge mainstream success like “Wannabe,” but it still managed to peak at Number 1 in the UK  and Scotland. “Spice Up Your Life” also impacted five Billboard charts including the Mainstream Top 40 (Number 37), Rhythmic Top 40 (Number 27), Hot Dance Singles (Number 22), Hot 100 (Number 18), and the Hot Dance Club Play chart (Number 4).
