Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo were once considered one of music industry’s cutest couples. After a three year relationship, the couple broke up more than four months ago. Sparks revealed in a radio interview that Derulo never even said goodbye, he just simply never called her again. On Thursday, Sparks spoke to Power 105.1‘s Breakfast Club and revealed that the former couple got into a small fight the night before she was going on a trip. She claimed that she apologized and everything seemed fine. On the day she was leaving for her trip, Sparks said, “He helped me with my bag to the car, he kissed me and told me he loved me, and then didn’t call.” According to Sparks, the two haven’t spoken in five months. She said he never called, sent a text, or anything.
During an interview on the Ryan Seacrest radio show, Derulo had a different account of why the couple broke up, “What happened…in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons. Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage.” Derulo explained to Seacrest, “There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad times, it’s time to call it quits. It becomes unhealthy.” Derulo also said that Sparks wanted to get married but he wasn’t ready.
Last year, Jordin Sparks made an appearance on the Today Show in September. The singer discussed how she was dealing with her recent break up, “I’m good actually. The funny thing is that I read this book the other day. Actually, it was yesterday. It said when something unexpected happens in your life or you think something bad is happening, just say ‘plot twist’ and move on.” Over the next few months, both Sparks and Derulo publicly spoke about their break up. Although they both had a difference of opinion as to why they broke up, it seemed like Sparks and Derulo had moved on. So far, Jason Derulo has not commented on Jordin Sparks’ recent radio interview.
