Singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten has announced that she’ll be putting out a new EP called I Don’t Want to Let You Down. Set to be released June 9th through record label Jaguguwar, it’s a 5-song release that will feature four new songs (“I Don’t Want to Let You Down”, “Just Like Blood”, “I Always Fall Apart”, and “Pay My Debts”). The EP’s final track is a live version of “Tell Me” from a concert she did in Barcelona last December.
Being a follow-up to Van Etten’s critically acclaimed 2014 album Are We There, there’s a considerable amount of anticipation revolving around I Don’t Want to Let You Down. Produced by Van Etten and Stewart Lerman, the producer of her last album, it’s speculated that the record will have a similar feel to Are We There. It has also been confirmed that Adam Granduciel and Dave Hartley of the band, The War on Drugs, will be contributing on the record as well.
The 34-year old musician has made quite a name for herself in the 10 years since her music career really took off. A college drop-out, Van Etten moved to Brooklyn in 2005 where she met Kyp Malone of the band TV on the Radio. Malone helped her achieve a record deal, and she has since recorded four studio LPs, and opened for big acts like The National and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Van Etten will also begin a new tour come April.
