Sephora: 15 Shopping Secrets You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Sephora is the go-to spot to seek out the latest makeup trends. Known for its wide selection of all kinds of products, it’s become a boon over the past few years, especially with the explosion in popularity of advanced makeup techniques. However, despite the fact that the brand has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Sephora. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: You Can Return Anything Without a Receipt

Even if it’s used, any product bought in a Sephora can be returned without a receipt for store credit. All you need to bring with you is an id. However, don’t do this all the time, as the company can temporarily ban anyone who takes advantage of their return policy.

Number Fourteen: Sephora Doesn’t Have a Sales Floor, It Has a Stage

It’s true! All store employees aren’t called employees – they’re cast members. Similarly, the sales floor is the stage, and all other places are considered backstage. They wear costumes, not uniforms.

Number Thirteen: The Most Expensive Items Are at Eye-Level

In an effort to push the priciest products, the store keeps its most expensive at eye-level, where they’re most visible. If you’re shopping on a budget, try browsing the higher and lower shelves first.

Number Twelve: Certain Products’ Packaging Is Designed to Change Your Mood

A number of brands sold in the store use different colors on their packaging to make shoppers feel a certain way. For example, black packaging is meant to make shoppers feel strong and sexy, while gold packaging targets a more mature shopper.

Number Eleven: Customers Who Spend a Lot Are Rewarded

And we mean really rewarded. If shoppers spend $350 or more every year, they become part of the Very Important Beauty Insider’s club, or VIB. Perks of being a VIB member include free makeovers and access to exclusive in-store events.

Number Ten: Customers Who Buy an Item That Goes on Sale Within Two Weeks Can Get a Refund of the Difference

This is one of the greatest deals Sephora offers. If you buy something that goes on sale within two weeks of you purchasing it, then you can call customer service and they’ll refund the difference for you.

Number Nine: 20 Percent of the Testers Contain Fecal Matter

You might want to skip the test products because one-fifth of them contain mold, yeast, and fecal matter. Stay tuned for part two of our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Sephora, coming soon!
