Scott Weiland previewed six songs that will be on his first album with his new band, the Wildabouts. The album Blaster is scheduled to be released on March 31. The former Stone Temple Pilot frontman said the album is inspired by late 1960s garage rock. The band’s first release is entitled “Way She Moves,” is expected to hit rock radio airwaves soon. The rocker also treated fans with two classic songs, “Vasoline” and “Unglued,” from his former band the Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland and the Wildabouts will perform again at the ASCAP Music Cafe on January 24.
Weiland was recently featured in a Rolling Stones magazine article relating to his “other” rock group, Art of Anarchy. The band is a “supergroup” made up of former rock legends including bassist John Moyer (Disturbed), guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns N’ Roses), and brothers Jon and Vince Votta. Weiland announced on social media that he worked on a project with Art of Anarchy last year. Weiland mentioned that he added vocals to the project, and shot a couple of music videos with the band. He noted the band was going to have a big 2015, but it would be “without the help of Scott Weiland.” Weiland also posted the message, “When they find their front man to hit the road and play some dates, check them out.” The rocker’s Facebook post concluded with a “plug” for his new band, “In the meantime, if you want to check out where I’m at RIGHT NOW, check out my band, SCOTT WEILAND AND THE WILDABOUTS.”
