Sawyer Fredericks Can Win ‘The Voice’ Season 8

With only one performance yet, Sawyer Fredericks already became a favorite in the newest season of The Voice. His soaring rendition of “I’m a Man of Constant Sorrow” made its presence felt all the way to the upper echelon of the iTunes chart. Likewise, his social media following is already growing at an exponential rate. The modest fifteen year old from New York really shows that he can be bigger than who he is back in the farm where he lives.

As early as Fredericks sang the first few notes from his audition, coaches Adam LevineChristina Aguilera and Pharrell already knew he was something special. Soon after, Blake Shelton also pushed his button making Fredericks a member of the elite circle of the four-chair turners. He looked like he was having the most difficult time of his life when he had to choose who, among the four superstars, would be his coach. Levine and Aguilera shamelessly expressed their desperation by pleading to Fredericks that they deserved to be his coach. Finally, the young artist chose the smoothly charismatic Pharrell. Just like that, the “Happy” singer propelled himself to being the coach to beat in this season’s competition.

Usually, The Voice airs the best audition pieces in the first episode. With Fredericks as the final audition in the first episode, it is sure that the producers of the show is sure that he can really make it far in the competition. Furthermore, Aguilera, when Fredericks chose Pharrell, said that her heart was broken. Truthfully, only the best contenders of the show break Aguilera’s heart. Fredericks’ talent is as powerful as that.

However, it will definitely not be an easy road for Fredericks as other artists, as early as now, are showing that this season could possibly be the most talent-filled. Lowell Oakley, also from Team Pharrell, showed his perfectly executed crooner vibe in his youthfully rendered “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.” His teammate, Meghan Lindsey, also proves how her experience could threaten all the other teams. The strength of Pharrell’s team only gets stronger with the addition of young blues artist Mia Z.

Team Christina, on the other hand, also already has a handful of talented artists. High-note reaching male artists Rob Taylor and Joe Tolo can also sing their way till the end. Treeva Gibson, meanwhile, could charm the people with her interesting and heartfelt story. However, the biggest threat against Fredericks right now is Team Blake’s Sarah Potenza who sang “Stay With Me” with a Juliet Simms level of vocal excellence.

It is difficult to say what the future holds for Fredericks. However, the strength of his first performance can already provide a positive trajectory for the singer. Pharrell, in this case, holds Fredericks’ fate. He must be able to pick the best songs suitable for his artist’s unique style.
