Sam Smith just added nineteen dates in North America for his upcoming tour. His tour starts on March 1st in Belgium, and then he will wrap the overseas leg of the tour on June 11th in Norway. The singer’s US leg will begin on July 17th at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Smith will also travel to Miami (FL), Tampa (FL), Raleigh (NC), San Diego (CA), and Austin (TX), before the tour wraps in Grand Prairie (TX) on August 17th.
Smith will be featured in next month’s Vogue magazine. The singer discussed how being so open to the public excites him. “I find that the danger of giving too much away excites me. So I give you everything. ‘Make mistakes.’ I tell myself,” Smith stated to Vogue magazine. He also stated that he is young, and so he tells himself to fall in love with as many people as possible, even if it means getting hurt. “I need to go through all of this to feel human. Because my life right now, how I’m living, isn’t very human,” Smith told Vogue.
The singer also addressed the criticism he has received for being honest, and how his honesty has been perceived as dark and sad. The four-time Grammy-winning artist told the magazine that he’s not concerned with the criticism he has been getting for being who he is. “People think that because I’m being honest and talking about pain it’s sad, but to me it’s empowering. Talking about my deepest and darkest secrets to the world makes me feel better,” Smith explained. He continued, “It’s cathartic. And that’s a bit f***ed up, if I’m honest, but it helps me.” Contrary to what some people may think, Smith said he is a really happy person. The pop singer also revealed he plans on directing his own music videos in the near future, and he is considering attending film production school in New York.
Right now, Sam Smith is focused on his music career, and his new relationship with model Jonathan Zeizel. Smith didn’t conclude his interview with Vogue magazine, without offering a bit of advice for his fellow pop musicians. “We’re losing class. There is a way to share an insight into your personal life without being classless, which is what I’m trying to do,” Smith told the magazine. He added, “Let’s not get our asses out, people. Let’s put on a suit.” The pop singer didn’t offer any names, but his fans may have an idea who he is referring to.
