Rihanna Wants to Collaborate with Sam Smith

Rihanna recently revealed she wants to work with Sam Smith. “He is so talented. It would be amazing to work with him. No matter how busy we are, when two artists want to work together they make it happen,” the pop singer told The Sun. She added, “He is such a beautiful songwriter, but more important than that, he is absolutely a beautiful person. That comes across in his songs.”

Rihanna just released her new song “Bitch Better Have My Money” (produced by Kanye West) on Dubsmash. Dubsmash is an app where consumers can record videos of themselves lip-syncing to songs. Rihanna recently revealed that her upcoming album (R8), which will be executive-produced by Kanye West, will be different from her previous projects.

She continued, “I find that when I get on stage now I don’t want to perform a lot of my songs because they don’t feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless.” While Rihanna has had numerous chart-topping songs, the pop singer feels a lot of those records don’t represent heartfelt soul music. “I’ve made a lot of songs that are just really big songs, they just blow up. Not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, and that felt forever,” Rihanna revealed.

Some of Rihanna’s new set of “timeless” songs includes “FourFiveSeconds,” which is her collaborative effort with Kanye West and Paul McCartney. The song peaked at Number 1 on the charts in the US, Australia, Denmark, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden. “FourFiveSeconds” has been certified platinum, after the single sold over one million copies in the US.

Last night, Rihanna performed “Bitch Better Have My Money” at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The awards show also featured performances from Madonna (with Taylor Swift), Kelly Clarkson, Florida Georgia Line, Jamie Foxx (with Chris Brown), Nate Ruess, Snoop Dogg, Jason Aldean, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Jennifer Hudson (with Iggy Azalea), and Nick Jonas.

Rihanna and Kanye West are expected to perform a joint show on July 25th in Tallinn (Estonia). The concert date was originally posted by Live Nation, but neither Rihanna or West have confirmed the concert. There are reports the two megastars will also embark on a summer tour together this year. The announcement for the joint tour is expected to be revealed some time in the upcoming months.
