Rihanna to Team Up With Exes on Upcoming Album

Rihanna is reportedly planning a collaborative project with her two ex-boyfriends Chris Brown and Drake. The 26-year old “Stay” singer has been featured in a few songs of Drake’s in recent years. In songs like “What’s My Name” and “Take Care”, Rihanna took the role of the girlfriend with no care to what occurred in the past. According to an inner circle member she is not one to dwell but rather one to thrive in the complications of the past by putting it into her music.

“I don’t know what she’d be doing if it were not for making music. She loves her work so much and is inspired by music that I think she would record with Drake and or Chris or maybe even both together. It would have to be the right time though. Timing is everything,” the source stated.

After receiving flack for featuring ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in her 2011 hit single “Birthday Cake” Rihanna has been hesitant to go down that road again. The image of Chris Brown’s domestic abuse on Rihanna was too fresh in the minds of her fans to find the collaboration acceptable.  The song ultimately reached number four on the R ‘n’ B/Hip-Hop Songs chart but failed to surface on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Despite past sales and song ratings, Chris Brown is open to giving it another try. He said, “If she’s working on an album [and] she wants me on a record, she can call. I’ll get on the record.” He goes on to explain that there are no issues between him and Rihanna.

“We’ve been friends. We’ve known each other for almost ten years, the same amount of time I’ve been doing music,” he continued. “I don’t think that’s ever gonna change… we’re friends.” Chris Brown made a point to inform people that they have a strong friendship but nothing more. If they do collaborate again, even on a highly sexual song, it will be out of equal respect for each other’s musical talent.

Brown continued, “If I need her for something, it’s vice versa,” indicating that he would gladly feature her on a song of his as well. Surprisingly, Chris Brown has the same attitude towards Drake. The “Loyal” singer stated, “His music is amazing…so as far as, like, the collaboration, I think that something if the fans want, I think that’s something they should get.”
