Acclaimed pop producer RedOne revealed that he is in the process of working with Lady Gaga on her new pop album, and he hopes that the upcoming release will be heralded as the “album of the decade.” Earlier this year, Gaga teased photos of the duo working in the studio, sparking speculation that she would be making a return to pop music after abandoning the field to focus on Cheek to Cheek, her collection of jazz standards with Tony Bennett.
Regarding their time apart RedOne commented “we took a little break from each other and now it feels like we are in a good place, both of us. She did her thing, I did my thing, and it feels like we’re back on track together.” The producer expects that he will be working with Gaga through most of 2015, and that there is no definitive timeline for a release yet. Regarding working with her, he claims that they connected by their love of music. “It’s fun and respectful, putting the egos aside, it’s magic,” he said regarding their sessions.
Although he has been hard at work on Gaga’s highly anticipated release, RedOne is also working on his putting together his own debut album, the tentatively titled RedOne Presents. The producer hopes to have the album out sometime this year and is hoping to enlist the help of several of his favorite collaborators, Lady Gaga included. The famed producer claims that nothing is confirmed yet, but he is attempting to recruit his peers as well as his idols for the release. When asked whom he would like to work with in an ideal world, he listed frequent collaborator Enrique Iglesias, Priyanka Chopra, and his idols Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie. It is safe to say that RedOne Presents is an album to watch out for.
2015 has also been a busy year for Lady Gaga, who is currently recording the follow up to her and Bennett’s Cheek to Cheek as well as her pop album. She embarked upon the Cheek to Cheek tour with Bennett, performed alongside him at the Grammys, and will be taking the stage to perform at the Oscars later this month. Lady Gaga has been seen in the studio with Paul McCartney, and both she and Giorgio Moroder have expressed an interest in getting together in the studio.
On a personal front, Lady Gaga took to her social media this week to announce that her long term boyfriend Taylor Kinney proposed to her on Valentine’s Day. The couple has been together since they met on the set of Gaga’s “You & I” music video, where Kinney was recruited to play the role of the musician’s onscreen lover.
This is not the first time that someone associated with Gaga has referred to one of her releases in such a grandiose manner. In fact, Lady Gaga herself proclaimed that her 2010 Born This Way would be the album of the decade, and she went as far as to jokingly tweet that her Artpop album would be the “album of the millennium.” Fans have to wait and see how her new music measures up once the album is released.
