LMFAO, which consists of Redfoo and his nephew Sky Blu, have been storming the scene since they dropped the Party Rock album not long after their formation in 2006. With the international fame this duo has received, it’s no wonder that Redfoo has decided to take a step into a new direction and release his first solo album, titled Where the Sun Goes. The album, which is due to drop sometime this summer, is filled with what Redfoo describes as “feel-good” and “bright” tracks. He also says that titling the album Where the Sun Goes seemed like a good idea because not only does it describe the feel of the album perfectly, but that “the sunshine has always been special to me.”
While this may be Redfoo’s debut solo album, it is not his first venture into a solo career. Shortly after the group went on hiatus in September 2012, Redfoo released his first solo single “Bring Out the Bottles.” The song was used in the film Las Vegas, which starred Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Kevin Kline, and Morgan Freeman. He also performed “Let’s Get Ridiculous,” another new track, on The X Factor Australia in 2013. The single has since been certified four times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association, ARIA, and debuted at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. Since then, Redfoo has release three more solo tracks, “Where The Baes At,” “Like Ya Just Don’t Care,” and “New Thang.” The latter he premiered by performing on The X Factor Australia. Like the previous single he debuted on The X Factor Austrailia, “New Thang,” also debuted on the ARIA Singles Chart, this time at number three.
Redfoo, who attempted to qualify for the 2013 US Open as a wild-card entry, was widely criticized for featuring on the Play-N-Skillz song, “Literally I Can’t,” which according to the track’s naysayers is misogynistic and was on many ‘Worst Song of 2014’ lists. Redfoo’s participation in the song eventually lead to an online petition to have him removed as a judge on The X Factor Australia. It was announced last week that he would indeed not be returning as a judge on the seventh season of the show.
