Rapper Chinx Shot and Killed in New York

Rapper Chinx was shot and killed in Queens (NY) as he drove down the street in his Porsche. The drive-by shooting happened early this morning, and reports indicate the rapper was shot several times. The passenger in the car was shot twice, and he is currently is stable condition at Jamaica Hospital. No arrests have been made, and police haven’t confirmed if any witnesses have come forward in regards to the shooting.

Chinx, whose real name is Lionel Pickens, was an artist on French Montana’s Coke Boys record label. The rapper was scheduled to release his first studio album this year, which would have been named Welcome To JFK. Two years ago, Chinx released an EP entitled I’ll Take It from Here. The project featured a guest appearance from French Montana, and “Feelings” was the first single dropped from the EP. During his ten-year music career, Chinx released countless mixtapes, some of which include Hurry Up & Die Vol. 1: Get Ya Casket On, Hurry Up & Die Vol. 2: From The Cage To The Stage, Flight 2011, Cocaine Riot, Coke Boys Run New York, Cocaine Riot 4, and he was going to release Flight 2015 along with Harry Fraud this year.

The Queens rapper worked with several mainstream artists including Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, Juicy J, Ace Hood, DJ Khaled, and more. Some of Chinx’s most recognized singles include “I’m A Coke Boy” featuring French Montana, “Right There” featuring Juicy J and French Montana, “We Up In Here” featuring Ace Hood, “Feelings” featuring French Montana, and “Couple N****s.”

Several celebrities have sent their condolences to Chinz and his family and friends. “Woke up today in disbelief we lost another good brother today…I’m sending prayers up! So much I want to say. Some things I just don’t understand smh,” Ace Hood wrote on Instagram. Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Rico Love, Fabolous, Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, Young Buck, Angie Martinez, and others have paid their respects to the late rapper as well. “Crazy how the low-lifes live 100 years but the GREATEST guys die way 2 young. I never question GOD tho [sic]. R.I.P. my friend,” Rico Love wrote on Twitter.
