Artist 50 Cent has a Grammy Award, numerous Billboard awards, American Music awards, and now he can add MLB award to the list. Yes! The rapper won the MLB Network Social Media Award for “Most Memorable First Pitch.” Last spring, 50 Cent threw the first pitch at a New York Mets game. His wild pitch, which almost knocked out a cameraman, earned the rapper an award. So, how did 50 Cent accept his award? Well, he went on social media and posted the following message, “These people sent me the most f—ed up pitch award.” The rapper added, “Ain’t this a b—h? LMAO, but it ain’t funny.”
Other than his pitching award, 50 Cent is continuously building his film career. Besides executive producing and starring in his hit television show Power, the rapper is also filming two movies this year. 50 Cent will make a guest appearance in the action comedy, Spy; the film is scheduled to be released on May 22 and stars Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Jason Statham, and Jude Law. 50 Cent will also make an appearance in the film Southpaw, and fittingly, the movie is a sports drama that stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel Adams, Forest Whitaker, and boxer Victor Ortiz. Southpaw is scheduled for a July 3 Summer release. The rapper made his acting debut in the film Get Rich or Die Tryin’ in 2005. The movie is based on 50 Cent’s life, and it also starred Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, and Joy Bryant. Get Rich or Die Tryin’ grossed over $46 million at the box office.
Ironically, 50 Cent, Viola Davis, and Terrence Howard are all starring in successful television shows this year. Davis stars as the lead actress in ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder and Howard co-stars in Fox’s Empire. Both shows are ranked number one in their time slot, and they are shattering viewership ratings numbers too. 50 Cent has publicly criticized Fox’s Empire show, because he believes the musical drama is a duplicate of Power; the Fox network has not responded to the rapper’s claims. Empire’s co-stars, Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, simply laughed when they were made aware of 50 Cent’s allegations.
