Pharrell’s Hat on Display at Grammy Museum

Pharrell Williams’ most famous head gear, also referred to as “the Grammy hat,” will be on display at the Grammy Museum. It will be at the museum from January 15th through March 15th. The hat will be featured as an item in the “Grammy Effect” showcase. Williams wore the infamous hat at last year’s Grammy Awards. Some people joked that Williams borrowed the hat from the fast food restaurant Arby’s, mainly because his hat resembles the restaurant’s logo. Ironically, Arby’s purchased the hat from Williams for $44,100. Williams’ auctioned the hat on eBay last year, and proceeds from the sale were donated to his One Hand to Another charity.

Williams did an interview with Hypebeast a few years ago, and he was asked about his fashion sense, “I like individuality more than I like anything else. Fashion is great, the followers are cool but I love individuality- I love when people take things and make it themselves.” Pharrell Williams’ clothing lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream were formed in 2005. The two clothing lines were founded by Williams and Nigo. Nigo is also the founder of BAPE clothing. In 2014, Williams inked a design deal with Adidas. Williams spoke about his Adidas deal at an event in Los Angeles recently, “Beyond allowing a musician to merely design a product, I view our work together as a true creative expression of art.” Williams continued, “It also provides me the opportunity to amplify and spread the message of equality, something that has always been important and very dear to me.”

New styles from Adidas and Pharrell Williams will be available in stores this year. Williams’ collaborative effort with Adidas includes sneakers and apparel. His distinctive polka dot designs were featured on his Stan Smith sneaker collection. Williams also released ten limited edition Stan Smith sneakers that he hand-painted. In addition to fashion, Williams continues to dominate the music industry. Pharrell Williams, along with Beyoncé and Sam Smith, lead the 2015 Grammy Awards with six nominations each. The singer’s album, GIRL, is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album.
