“Supersonic” by Pepe cleverly plays out like an old 60s commercial. A young woman appears to be advertising some sort of bulky, switch board-esq sound system, called the “Supersonic Sound System”. And, true to the format of a commercial, she tells you why you would want it, what parts come with it, and why it is so convenient and useful. Then, she breaks into a dance pulled straight from the decade, completed with a tambourine. Continuing on, she addresses each part of this system, explaining things like wireless speakers in terms that people of the age would understand. This cheeky little commercial that was clearly well thought out and executed beautifully, from the old school drawn animations at times to the fur rug on the floor when the advertiser is dancing or modeling something she’s just explained. It’s obviously a step backwards technologically, but is purporting the system to be state of the art and portable; all in all, a very entertaining, tongue-in-cheek rendition of commercialism.
