Previously, we brought you the first half of our list of 15 interesting facts about Papa Roach. Now, here are eight more facts about the multi-platinum-selling hard rock team of Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Tobin Esperance and Tony Palermo.
Number Eight: Shaddix Hosted a TV Show. The show was called Scarred and featured extreme sports athletes sharing their wipeout stories. Shaddix hosted the MTV show for two seasons, the equivalent of 20 episodes.
Number Seven: Shaddix Had a Side Project. From 2002 until 2004, Shaddix had a side project called Fight the Sky. Using the alias John Doe, he and the band signed a record deal with Papa Roach’s El Tonal Records and prepared to record their debut album. However, the album was never released and there are no current plans to release it.
Number Six: Shaddix Has a Clothing Label. Lovers are Lunatics is a collaboration between Papa Roach’s Shaddix and designer Jeff Henry. The label focuses on rock clothing with the purpose of “representing the rock community.”
Number Five: Their Music was Given the String Quartet Treatment. Vitamin String Quartet devoted an entire album to Papa Roach’s music. In 2006, they released Perfect Murder: Strung Out on Papa Roach on their own Vitamin Records label.
Number Four: The WWE Used a Papa Roach Song as Their Theme. Before releasing The Paramour Sessions, the album’s first single, “…To Be Loved,” was used as the WWE theme song. The song was used for three years from 2006 until 2009. “…To Be Loved” was also used in the WWE video game in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Number Three: Shaddix Wrote a Song with Hinder. Over the years, Papa Roach has toured numerous times with Hinder. In that time, Shaddix became good friends with the band’s lead singer, Austin John. The two ended up writing and recording a song together. It was supposed to be released on a solo album John was recording, but the track was never included.
Number Two: Tony Palermo Has a Punk Rock Pedigree. When Palermo joined Papa Roach in 2007, he was coming in with experience with a long list of bands under his belt. Besides playing drums with Unwritten Law at the time he was chosen to play with Papa Roach, he has also played with Ten Foot Pole, Pulley and Sixx: AM.
