Ozzy Osbourne must undergo surgery (the rocker has not revealed what type of surgery) once Black Sabbath‘s tour wraps on May 2nd. The Ozzfiesta was scheduled to launch on May 27th, but the Mexico leg of “Ozzfest” has been canceled. The Ozzfiesta promoter, Cool Breeze Concerts, revealed Osbourne’s procedure will require four weeks of recovery time. Refunds are being offered for those who purchased tickets for the four-day festival.
Before his surgery, Osbourne will perform in South America on April 25th for the Monsters of Rock festival. The rocker will travel to Mexico for two concerts in Mexico City and Monterrey beginning in August. Black Sabbath are working on their last studio album, which will feature production from Rick Rubin. The rock band will also perform at Ozzfest Japan on November 22nd. There are reports that Ozzfest Japan will be Black Sabbath’s last concert together, although those claims have not been confirmed.
Black Sabbath have been releasing albums since the 1970s. In total, the band has dropped nineteen studio albums, some of which include Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Technical Ecstasy, Mob Rules, Born Again, The Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, Cross Purposes, and their latest project entitled 13. Black Sabbath was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. They have been labeled as one of the greatest rock bands in music history, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked them Number 85 on their 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list. Black Sabbath’s albums have accumulated an excess of 70 million records sold worldwide. The rock band won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance twice. Some of Black Sabbath’s most-known songs include “War Pigs,” “Paranoid,” “Iron Man,” “Fairies Wear Boots,” “Heaven and Hell,” “Children of the Grave,” and “The Wizard.”
As a solo artist, Osbourne has dropped eleven studio albums; his album sales total over thirty million records sold. Osbourne as known as the “Godfather of Heavy Metal,” has been inducted into the UK Hall of Fame as a solo artist and member of Black Sabbath. Osbourne was kicked out of Black Sabbath in 1979, but the band reconciled several times (the last time was four years ago).
