We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Osama bin Laden, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more interesting facts about the founder of al-Qaeda’s life that you definitely (probably) didn’t know.
Number Eight: Marijuana Grew Near His Compound. According to the Daily Mail, there were marijuana plants found extremely close to the compound where bin Laden was staying. This might have been a way for bin Laden to handle his kidney issues without frequent trips to a hospital.
Number Seven: There Was Also Some Serious Porn Found There. After bin Laden was captured, there was a large collection of porn found in his compound. According to the officials who recovered the porn, it was “modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive.”
Number Six: His Wife Faked Being Deaf and Dumb. When one of bin Laden’s wives had to give birth, he had her fake being deaf and dumb so nobody would talk to her. This is because she spoke Arabic and not Urdu, so he didn’t want to make anyone suspicious.
Number Five: He Often Wore a Cowboy Hat. Osama would often wear a cowboy hat around his compound so he couldn’t be seen by cameras above. It also kept the sun out of his eyes, of course.
Number Four: He Evaded Taxes. This might not be much of a surprise, but not a single member in bin Laden’s compound paid taxes. A fake ID was also used to purchase the compound.
Number Three: He Collected Kids’ Cricket Balls. Osama would often refuse to give back cricket balls that kids would hit into his yard. While it is unclear why he did this, the kids were paid two to three times what the balls were worth just so they wouldn’t complain about not getting their balls back.
Number Two: His Capture Was Live-Tweeted. Several people in the neighborhood where bin Laden’s compound was tweeted near the time of his capture. One man, in particular, he tweeted about foreign helicopters coming into the neighborhood.
Number One: He Was Never Buried at Sea. Though many people believe bin Laden was buried at sea, his body was actually cut into pieces and tossed out of a helicopter in the Hindu Kush Mountains instead.
