Osama bin Laden is widely regarded as one of the worst and most destructive people who ever lived. The founder of al-Qaeda may have died in 2011, but his legacy will unfortunately be living on for quite some time. Here, we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Osama bin Laden. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Fifteen: He Was Married Six Times. Osama first got married at the age of 17, and he was married six times total throughout his life. He had children with all of his wives except for one.
Number Fourteen: He Studied Engineering. Osama graduated from King Abdul Aziz University, located in Jeddah. He graduated with a degree in engineering in 1979.
Number Thirteen: He Has 51 Siblings. Osama was the 17th of a total of 52 children. His father was Muhammad Awad bin Laden, a construction magnate and an immigrant from Yemen.
Number Twelve: He Had a Green Thumb. Because bin Laden did not have any access to television or the internet, he had to find other ways to entertain himself. Because of this, he held vegetable growing competitions with his children. He would award prizes to the best plants.
Number Eleven: He Loved Volleyball. Standing at 6’4″ and relatively lanky, it’s not much of a surprise to hear that bin Laden could kill on the volleyball court. However, he was apparently so competitive that he never allowed anyone who was better than he was to play on his team.
Number Ten: He Was Pulled Over for Speeding. After September 11, bin Laden was in a car that was pulled over for speeding. Because he had shaved his beard, the officer could not recognize him in time before his driver was able to get away. This happened in 2001 and, had the officer recognized him, could have saved a lot of time and effort.
Number Nine: He Had a Very Limited Wardrobe. Because bin Laden had such a limited wardrobe, many people hypothesized that he did not stay in one place for very long and moved very frequently. His wardrobe included a few Pakistani garments, two sweaters, and one jacket.
