Oprah Gets Jennifer Hudson for New OWN Anthem

Billionaire Oprah Winfrey has a new anthem for her Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). “You Will” was written by famed songwriter Diane Warren, and Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) provided the vocals. The new anthem is streaming on Winfrey’s website, and it is also available on iTunes.

Hudson has released three studio albums including Jennifer Hudson, I Remember Me, and JHUD. The R&B singer’s debut album featured the singles “Spotlight,” “If This Isn’t Love,” and “Giving Myself.” Ne-Yo, Missy Elliott, and Timbaland provided some of the album’s production, and it peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The lead single “Spotlight” reached the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and it also charted in Australia, Austria, Canada, Europe, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The Gold certified project won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album in 2009.

JHUD, her latest project, peaked at Number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and Number 10 on the Billboard 200. The first single “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” featuring T.I. was produced by Pharrell Williams. The other singles “Walk It Out” and “It’s Your World” featuring R. Kelly, both impacted the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. “It’s Your World” also peaked at Number 3 on the Hot Dance Songs chart. Hudson’s single “Trouble” (with Iggy Azalea) was dropped last month. The song has faired well on the charts, and it is a Top 10 single in Australia and the United Kingdom.

In the fall, Jennifer Hudson will make her Broadway debut as Shug Avery in The Color Purple. The show will be produced by Oprah Winfrey, Scott Sanders, and Roy Furman. The singer-actress has become a seasoned veteran in the movie business. Hudson made her mark in the film industry with her breakout role of Effie White in Dreamgirls (Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, and Jamie Foxx) in 2006. Hudson’s performance won her an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. The Oscar-winner also appeared in the films Sex and the City, The Secret Life of Bees, Winged Creatures, Winnie Mandela, The Three Stooges, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, Black Nativity, and Lullaby. Just recently, Hudson made a guest appearance on Fox’s hit television show Empire.

FDRMX Eyes: Suns is an electronic duo from the UK. The dance project has released a music video titled “Bells.”
