One Direction’s Niall Horan has announced that he has found another job as a golf caddy for his friend and nationally ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy. His first day on the job will take place this Wednesday when he helps McIlroy move around the Masters Par-3 Contest. Fans shouldn’t worry though, because Horan will be picking up the caddy duties alongside his responsibilities as a member of One Direction.

Horan has been an avid golfer who has been involved in the sport since the age of 12. The Irish musician was made a lifetime member of his local club in December of 2014, and has picked up his clubs whenever he has some free time. McIlroy commented on the decision to bring Horan on as a caddy, claiming, “he’s been excited to come here [the Masters]. I caught up with him in Australia at the end of last year, and he was really excited.” Knowing he was excited, he casually offered the opportunity by saying, “if you’re available Wednesday afternoon and you want to carry the bag for nine holes, you’re more than welcome.”

Niall Horan clearly agreed, and will be assisting McIlroy over the course of the event. The fellow Irishman is currently ranked number 1 in the tournament. Horan and McIlroy played a game of golf together when they met in Australia last year. The game led to the development of their friendship.

The Par-3 contest is meant to be a relaxing event to keep the golfers calm before the actual Masters kicks off. This year, Horan will be playing the role of caddy alongside the likes of Tiger Woods’s children Sam and Charlie as their father participates in the event for the first time since 2004. Last year, McIlroy was caddied by his then-fiancée Caroline Wozniacki, who made waves for dying her hair pink for the event.

Niall Horan is currently on a break from One Direction’s On The Road Again Tour. The boys played a show in Dubai on April 4th, and their next show isn’t scheduled until June 5th in Cardiff, Wales. They are all still reeling from the shock of losing their member Zayn Malik, who announced he would be leaving the group last month. Although they were devastated by the news, they have wished Malik well and have announced that they would continue releasing music as a quartet. Their next studio album will be the first recorded without Malik and will be following up their chart-topping Four.
