Nicki Minaj Makes History with Four Top Ten Hits

This week, Nicki Minaj made history when she became the first woman to have four simultaneous songs in the top ten of Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Not only does she have the top spot on the chart with “Truffle Butter,” a collaboration with Drake and Lil Wayne, but she also has the number 3 position as a feature on Rae Sremmurd’s “Throw Sum Mo,” the number 9 spot with her other Drake and Lil Wayne collab, “Only,” and finally, she rounds out the top 10 with her Beyoncé-assisted “Feeling Myself.” “Truffle Butter” has also earned Minaj her sixth chart-topper on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

In the past, only two men have managed to replicate Minaj’s current situation. Lil Wayne was the first to achieve this feat in 2008, and Drake followed his lead in 2011. Both Drake and Lil Wayne are also benefitting from “Truffle Butter’s” top placement. The single is Drake’s 21st and Lil Wayne’s 18th number one single on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Drake holds the record for the most number one singles on the charts, with Lil Wayne following closely behind.

Although several females have managed to place in the chart’s top ten with three simultaneous tracks in the past, none of the women have managed to achieve the feat as lead artists on all of the tracks. With “Only,” “Feeling Myself,” and “Truffle Butter,” Minaj is the lead musician on three of her four tracks to rank in the top ten. With the three lead artist roles, she has beaten out the likes of Ashanti, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.

Nicki Minaj kicked off the first leg of her The Pinkprint Tour on March 16th in Stockholm, Sweden. The same day, she released a string of North American tour dates, which will be kicking off on July 17th in Dallas, Texas. The shows are currently scheduled to run until August 19th, but more dates are expected to be announced in the coming week. Minaj, who brought Trey Songz with her for the European leg of her show, revealed that she will be joined by a star-studded group including her rumored boyfriend Meek Mill, Rae Sremmurd, Dej Loaf, and Tinashe. Tinashe was originally scheduled to tour with Iggy Azalea on her The Great Escape Tour; however, she left the tour after it was postponed earlier this week.
