Nicki Minaj and Kanye West Crash Coachella Sets

The second weekend of Coachella just wrapped and there were a couple of surprises in store before the final weekend of the beloved festival ended. Although they didn’t have sets of their own, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West both made surprise appearances at Coachella.

Drake surprised his fans by pulling Minaj onstage during their song Truffle Butter. The crowd lit up when she graced the stage, but her cameo was rather short. The Canadian rapper proclaimed, “it’s been too long mama…I love this girl right here, we family forever.” He then congratulated her on what is assumed to be rumored engagement to the Philly born rapper Meek Mill.

The engagement has not been confirmed, but Minaj posted a picture of a heart shaped diamond ring on Twitter that was given to her by Meek Mill. Many are buzzing about the news as it comes just months after she broke off her eleven year relationship with her former boyfriend Safaree Samuels. Whether the rumors are true or not Drake seemed very happy for Minaj. Before she left the stage Drake pulled her in for a friendly hug. Although Minaj’s appearance was not nearly as scandalous as Madonna’s cameo at Drake’s weekend one performance, it was still a very kind moment between the two rappers.

Kanye West also surprised Coachella patrons by coming onstage during The Weeknd’s set. The R&B singer was performing a remix of Kanye West’s song Heartless, and when the music transitioned into West’s 2007 hit Can’t Tell Me Nothing he made his appearance and sent the crowd into frantic applause.

Mr. West pleased his fans by remaining onstage and performing not one, but three more songs which included his current single All Day, Don’t Like, and Black Skinhead. The two artists played well off of one another. The Weeknd delivered his quintessential laid back vibes and West was powerful and very high energy. He appeared to be in very high spirits as he performed and so did The Weeknd as he stated that Saturday was the “greatest night” of his life. Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement on Saturday giving the artists glowing reviews on the unexpected set.
