Nelly Arrested on Drug Charges in Tennessee

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, is facing felony drug charges after he was arrested in Tennessee yesterday. The tour bus Nelly was traveling in did not display a US Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker, and it was pulled over by Tennessee Highway Patrol. When state troopers approached the tour bus, they claimed they could smell marijuana. The troopers searched the bus, and found a bag with rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, marijuana, and three guns (.50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, .45-caliber Taurus pistol, and a .500 Smith & Wesson magnum).

Nelly was booked in Putnam County Jail for methamphetamine possession, which is a felony. The rapper was also booked for misdemeanor marijuana possession, and possession for drug paraphernalia because the troopers found about 100 Ziplock bags that are commonly used for the selling drugs. Another passenger on the tour bus, Brian Jones, was booked for possession of a handgun. Nelly was released from Putnam County Jail on a $10,000 dollar bond. The rapper is due in court on June 19th. Nelly’s attorney stated there were several people traveling on the tour bus when the bus was stopped, and 15-20 people had access to the bus before it was stopped in Tennessee. “We are extremely confident that when the facts come out, Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered,” the rapper’s attorney told US Weekly.

Nelly is scheduled to go on tour with the New Kids On The Block and TLC for the Main Event summer tour. The tour launches on May 1st in Las Vegas (NV), and it is also expected to travel to Anaheim (CA), San Jose (CA), Vancouver (BC), Tacoma (WA), Los Angeles (CA), Glendale (AZ), Dallas (TX), New Orleans (LA), Oklahoma City (OK), St. Paul (MN), Kansas City (MO), and several other cities in North America. The Main Event tour has more than forty shows scheduled in the US, and it will conclude on July 2nd at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.
