Next week’s Billboard 200 Albums chart is not expected to have too much movement. Most of the albums on this week’s chart will more than like be on the charts the following week. However, R&B singer Ne-Yo may be heading for a Top 10 debut with his Non-Fiction album. The album is projected to sell between 35,000-40,000 copies in the week ending on February 1. If Ne-Yo’s album cracks the top ten, it will be his sixth consecutive top ten debut. Ne-Yo has released three singles from Non-Fiction project including his new song “Coming With You.” The other singles from the project are “Money Can’t Buy” featuring Jeezy and “She Knows” featuring Juicy J. “She Knows” was produced by Dr. Luke, and it peaked to Number 4 on the Billboard Rhythmic chart. The remix version of the song features guest appearances by The-Dream, Trey Songz, and T-Pain.
Ne-Yo recently sat down with Yahoo Music to discuss his new album. Ne-Yo mentioned that he was bothered when music critics were saying he left R&B music. Some critics have considered Ne-Yo’s Non-Fiction album as the singer’s “return” to R&B music. “One of the very few things that I actually read about myself on blogs that got to me was people saying ‘Ne-Yo doesn’t do R&B music anymore,'” the singer told Yahoo Music. “R&B is my home. It’s who I am. It’s who I’ve been. It’s the first genre I fell in love with. It’s the reason why I’ve been able to do other genres of music.” Ne-Yo added, “With this album, I needed to remind my R&B fans of who I am and what I do. I wanted to tackle every aspect of R&B.”
Ne-Yo’s Non-Fiction album was released on January 27th, and it features production from StarGate, Cirkut, and Dr. Luke. StarGate is a songwriting and production duo who has worked with Ne-Yo in the past. They collaborated with Ne-Yo on his record “So Sick,” and they also wrote and produced Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” alongside Ne-Yo. The recording artist has an extensive songwriting resume, his work includes writing records for Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Rihanna, Whitney Houston, and Carrie Underwood. Some of his biggest writing and production hits besides, Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” are “Unfaithful” (Rihanna), “Take A Bow” (Rihanna), “Let Me Love You” (Mario), and “Walk Away (Remember Me)” (Paula DeAnda).
