Mumford & Sons went from Number 83 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, all the way to the top of the chart. The Number 1 spot on the chart can be contributed to the band having the Number 1 album on the Billboard 200. Wilder Mind sold over 240,000 copies in its debut week, which was the top selling album of the week. Mumford & Sons’ giant leap from Number 83 to Number 1 is the Artist 100’s biggest impact since Kendrick Lamar jumped from Number 82 to Number 1 last month. The remaining top five artists on the Artist 100 chart include Taylor Swift at Number 2, Wiz Khalifa at Number 3, Josh Groban at Number 4, and Maroon 5 at the fifth spot.
Khalifa‘s Number 3 (Artist 100) ranking is due to his hit single “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth, which is currently the Number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. The single has spent an impressive five weeks at the top of the Hot 100, becoming one of the longest runs for a solo male rapper. The last solo male rapper with a long stint at the top of the Hot 100 was Eminem, whose “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, spent seven weeks at Number 1 on the chart five years ago. “See You Again” has also reached the top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot Rap Songs, Digital Songs, On-Demand Songs, and Streaming Songs charts.
Maroon 5 also have a Top 10 single on the Hot 100. Their single “Sugar” is currently sitting at the Number 6 position. “Sugar” was released in January, and it has already reached platinum certification in the US, after selling more than two million copies. The single is Maroon 5’s third song from their V album to reach the Top 10 on the charts. The band’s other Top 10 hits include “Maps” and “Animals.”
The other songs on the Hot 100 chart include the Number 2 song “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap, Number 3 “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” by The Weeknd, Number 4 “Uptown Funk!” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, Number 5 “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon, Number 6 “Sugar” by Maroon 5, Number 7 “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding, Number 8 “Want to Want Me” by Jason Derulo, Number 9 “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, and Number 10 “G.D.F.R.” by Flo Rida featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas.
